I am not sure why, but we are having an extremely hard time with this machine. In a span of 2 days, 3 needles broke, the thread we are using is W60 which should be okay but it keeps breaking. I just don’t know what to do. At the moment the machine is just there, catching dust

My biggest problem is the embroidery presser foot keeps smashing my needles. Stop start button won’t sew even when I disengage the pedal. Customer support wants me to get it serviced. The machine is two months old. I didn’t know it was broke because I was new at embroidery the machine breaks needles and sends them flying at me. Please take back the broken machine and give me a new one in perfect working order. It’s past the return date but clearly this machine is broken. Please tell me how to send this back.Update: Still no resolution from Brother…they want me to take it to a repair shop or ship it back on my dime. Neither of which I’m going to do on my dime! Ridiculous how I’m not getting this resolved I bought the machine in June2022. I won’t buy Brother again, they are not standing behind their products well. Talked to customer service four times, placating me with no real results.

This is my second Brother embroidery/sewing machine. I worked my LB6800 to death! I had it for 4 years and was using it almost daily! It would of cost more to fix than to buy a new one. So I chose this SE600 which cost less than my LB600! But has so many more features! I love the color screen and that I can change the colors so they are what I want my project to look like. I love doing FSL (free standing lace) items. I make Angels, all sorts! I make butterflies and birds too! And of course the embroidery on towels and shirts. I have not used the sewing part on this new machine as of yet. I need to make 45 of the wedding angels for my parents 60th Anniversary party. So far the SE600 has been running wonderfully and I did not need to read too much about it in the manual because it pretty much threads the same and runs the same as my old LB6800. These Brother machines seem to be work horses! Another new feature on the SE600 is if I turn it off in the middle of a project, when I turn it back on it goes right to the spot I left off on and ask if I want to continue! Great feature!!! So I’m very happy with my new machine! No more grinding sounds! My poor LB6800 was just worked to death. This machine is really not hard to learn to use. I self taught myself on the old machine and with the manual and some YouTube videos, it is easy to learn how to do embroidery! I just wish I could afford a bigger machine, maybe someday!

Good quality machine for beginners and experienced sewers. I am new to machine embroidery, to be honest I really just wanted to monogram stuff. This machine is loaded with features I can’t wait to learn. It’s easy to use as a Sewing machine, it will take some time learning all the different screens and features. The manual is not as clear as it should be for the different screens, but fear not, YouTube has lots to offer!

I just finished putting this machine through it’s paces by making a casual buttondown shirt out of a heavy quilting cotton and a pair of lined wool dress trousers – and I’m pleasantly surprised! I have previously used a vintage Singer machine for all straight stitching, a cheap Brother (XR4040) for anything other than straight stitches, and a Brother 1034D for serging. I was pleasantly surprised with the stitch quality of the machine, the ease of using the embroidery features, how smoothly and quietly it runs, and the general overall quality. It comes with just the right amount of accessories (I added a walking foot)…but it would be nice if it included an invisible zipper foot and a rolled hem foot or a binding foot. These are cheap and plentiful on Amazon though.Pros:-Quiet/Smooth-Cheap/Excellent Value-Much easier to use than previous SE400-Great stitch quality-Thread cutter works great and pulls threads to the bottom side-It embroiders (would be worth this price even if it didn’t)-surprisingly powerful (went through ~10 layers of heavy quilting cotton and interfacing with minimal fuss)Cons:-Probably won’t last as long as my 1934 Singer, but it still feels like it will last plenty long-Horizontal thread with caps are a pain (I use bigger cones/king spools and put them in a glass/mug behind the machine and skip the pin-Embroidery is only 4×4-No included software for embroidery and included designs are mediocre (I am using Stitch Era Universal instead)-Doesn’t stitch as fast as an industrial machine-Feed dogs aren’t the best (average for a home machine, not as good as a true straight stitch machine, walking foot helps)

I read a ton of reviews recommending this machine and as a hobbiest wanting to break into selling some small merchandise, I thought it would be an amazing option. I figured it had more than enough stitches for anything I’d want to sew and I dreamed of being able to embroider my own patterns! On top of that, it has the ability to use custom stitches — perfect, right?Wrong. The machine itself is fine, but a lot of the features I was so excited about are completely misleading1. Custom Stitches – The machine’s manual says you can load stitches as PMV, PMX, and PMU files. However, it turns out that this machine cannot actually make custom stitches and because there is a copyright notice included on every Brother custom stitch file made from machines that do have the “My Custom Stitch” function, everyone is afraid to upload them online. I wasn’t able to find a single example file, even from the actual Brother website. The only software I could find capable of making custom stitches is sold by Brother for $1200. You heard me right, $1200 for embroidery software for a $350 sewing machine.2. Enough Stitches – As a beginner, I really don’t need the multitude of utility stitches this machine comes with because frankly, I don’t really know what most of them are for. There are a lot of satin stitches that I will never use, as I don’t plan to sew anything satin. This means that a lot of what I was excited for – really, decorative stitches – doesn’t exist. There are only 16 decorative stitches on this machine, some of which look a bit different than they do on the screen.3. Embroidery – This was the most shocking part of this machine to me. I was born in the 90s and grew up with electronics. Usually, if you buy an electronic that allows you to create custom images, prints, etc… That piece of machinery comes with the software you need to do so. However, the embroidery companies apparently missed the memo — because the software needed to make custom embroidered patterns is a $600 minimum. And heaven forbid you want Brother’s software to go with your Brother machine, because that $1200 software I mentioned earlier is your best bet. The worst part of that is that the software you’d pay $1200 is hardly better than Microsoft Paint circa 2005. Frankly, MS Paint probably looked better then than this software does now. Free software has a steep learning curve and is, at best, extremely painful and time-consuming to use.Overall, I am incredibly discouraged by this entire process. I realize the above facts are probably known to people who are used to embroidering, but if you’re a newbie like me… Well, be prepared for the reality of creating custom embroidery patterns if that’s what you think you’ll be doing with this machine.Ultimately, I made the decision to return this sewing machine in favor of a non-embroidery machine that ACTUALLY has more stitches than I will ever need… And hopefully will last me longer, too.

First of all, I have been sewing for about 30 years now. I own a Viking 1 + that I bought brand new back in the 1990’s. At that time, it was the top of the line and very expensive. But I didn’t like it’s embroidery. I never had much luck with it, the thread would tangle and break and just be a general mess. Fast forward to now, and I now have two granddaughters who love dresses. I have had some medical issues since the early 2000’s and sewing was the very last thing I wanted to do I’ve since had a couple of surgeries and feeling good. I wanted to try my hand at machine embroidery again, but the Viking was outdated. I thought about buying another Viking but after doing research, I read so many negative reviews (I was looking at the Viking Jade) I just couldn’t see paying the money.I finally decided on the Brother 600 because it had great reviews and seemed to have what I was looking for at about half the price of the Viking.I have bought Brother machines in the past for my daughters, but they were the cheap, basic machines. They never seemed to hold up for very long. So I was very nervous buying this one. Let me tell you, I am pleasantly surprised. This machine is a whiz. I’ve made sundresses with matching purses for my granddaughters, little zippered pocket pouches for my sewing accessories, and a whole host of things for a hospital neonatal unit that one of my friends who is an RN there asked me to make. (And yes, I work full time in office as well). I’ve only owned it a few weeks and it is getting a workout.I am getting ready to make my sister-in-law and myself tropical themed zippered totes with embroidered initials. The embroidery….it does a beautiful job. I love the fact that you can use the included embroidery patterns as well as uploading patterns from the internet. I confess I have not done that yet, baby steps. I heartily recommend this machine whether you are new at sewing or an old hand like myself.

This is a great find, especially for someone looking for a serious upgrade! I had been using my old singer machine for many years and was ready for something new!The instructions are easy to use and the machine itself is very professional! With various stitches,a touch screen and a USB option fo reporting the designs, the possibilities really are endless!I love that it allows you to control the speed of the needle, which allows you to not worry about the pressure of your foot on the pedal ! great feature!Overall I 100% recommend this machine! Its accessbile, easy and gets the job more than done! 🙂

My husband purchased this for me at Christmas to replace another embroidery machine I had sold. I’m still learning on it but so far it has been good. I rated 4 stars because I can’t honestly say it has been easy but I’m up for the challenge. I love the fact that it sews as well, so I always have a backup to my other sewing machine. I’ve only practiced on the embroidery but it worked very well.

Overall great beginners machine, but whenever I tried to test the embroidery feature the needle would break half way through, which makes me think something wasn’t calibrated properly. Never had any luck getting that to work.

Tension messes up randomly. Was great for a while but lasts for two years then you need servicing which will be as much as the machine.

I have an old metal necchi machine from the 1970s that I used my entire life. It’s always been a dependable work horse but it has only 6 stitches. I really wanted to add a machine to my sewing room that has the latest features and technology and after doing a lot of research, I decided on this one. I’ve owned it for nearly 2 years now and all I can say is this machine is quirky! I spend more time playing with this quirky machine than I spend sewing. From looping threads on the back (bobbin) thread, to loose, uneven stitches, or a needle threader that works some of the time, etc. It’s irritating as hell!! Same song and dance. Rethread, remove bobbin and reinstall, change the needle, or power off and on. Changing tension doesn’t help either when it’s having it’s little tantrums. I’m now in the market for a higher end machine. It’s true that you get what you pay for. Not real happy with this purchase.

This is the 4th Brother machine I have owned. It is also the most expensive one I’ve ever purchased. I am by no means an expert but I have been sewing for 20 years. This is not the easiest machine to learn. The options are not very elaborate for embroidery and as far as in putting your own design that is a challenge to learn all on its own. It’s great for simple stitches and I am sure with time I could learn to love it and I will have to as my return window has closed.

I pulled out a 55-year-old Singer to make pandemic masks. Into my second one it broke. Everybody closed and no ability to see if it could even be repaired. Lots of research brought up the Brother SE600 on many favorite lists. I had to wait through the back order and slower-than-usual “pandemic delivery” but it was worth the wait. What a quiet machine. Lovely selection of stitches. Easy to fill the bobbin and thread the machine, with on-machine instructions. One con: It came with several accessories, but not the ones I would find more beneficial, such as the embroidery presser foot.

Love this machine!! My wonderful hubby just bought it for me for my birthday!! I’m new to machine embroidery, but it’s very easy to learn with this machine! It’s fairly quiet when it does regular sewing, too! I upgraded from an entry-level Brother. Love that this one has a needle threader, drop-in bobbin, plus it’s computerized so you see everything you need to know on your screen! It tells you when your bobbin is low, alerts you if you need to re thread for some reason, etc. It comes preloaded with embroidery designs, but you can download more from the internet, too! I’m super happy with our purchase!!!!This pic is an apron I designed for my hubby for Father’s Day! 🙂

This machine is really good, it operate as it said, fun to use, the downside is when the embroidery speed is slow. But overall it’s recommended and a good machine.
Phil & Gail Matthews –
It took me a couple of days to figure out all the bells and whistles (and I still have to use the embroidery attachment) but this machine is amazing and it’s easy to use once you read the directions and then practice. It’s quiet, easy to thread and a dream to use. I LOVE it and am so glad I picked it out. It was a Christmas present to me from my husband. I have made several masks and a couple of laptop quilts so far. I look forward to mastering the embroidery attachment soon.

Prior to receiving this Brother SE600, I have only had basic lower end sewing machines, however I wanted to have an embroidery option. Based on its favorable reviews I purchased this machine and within one day I learned the basics. The instruction manual is the best ever! The machine runs very quietly. Granted I have only been using it for 3 days, but so far it is very impressive given the cost.

This machine was a gift to me and it has been awesome. You must read the instructions before you begin. I have made some mistakes along the way, but this is so much fun. It allows me to be creative and make some amazing gifts. It is easy to thread, so changing thread is a breeze. The screen allows you to see your design before you start. My biggest struggle is getting the fabric item into the hoop straight. The hoop is not easy to open up and get the backing and fabric clamped into place, and make sure it’s tight. Overall, I am loving this machine.

I purchased brotherSE600 because my brotherSE400 was a great fit for me to use–so I was already familiar with brother sewing machines. It arrived just in time for me to spend my lock-down time in making quilt tops and learning how to use the embroidery attachment. I also purchased USB pes 291,000 embroidery designs and I have made at least 100 of these designs and I still have more designs to explore! I have been in quilting/sewing heaven and I highly recommend purchasing brotherSE600 combo sewing/embroidery machine if you are looking for a beginner embroidery machine. I love this machine!

This is my first time buying a machine that embroiders. I read a lot of reviews and went back and forth. Obviously there are a lot of upper end embroidery machines but I can’t justify spending that much for my personal use. I needed a new sewing machine so decided to try the combo. I was able to start embroidering within about an hour of getting the unit; from unpacking to actually starting to embroider. I was really excited that it was that easy after hearing so many horror stories. My only project so far has been putting a paw print and name on about 20 blankets. After 9, my bobbin ran out. I rethreaded and started having issues and couldn’t get to work again. After some troubleshooting, I realized I hadn’t threaded the bobbin right and did not have the stabilizing backing completely covering the hoop. All good after that. I am only giving it 4 stars because it is still so new and time will tell if it will keep functioning so well. But right now I am LOVING it and only reject that maybe I didn’t buy one with a bigger area. I have not tried sewing yet either.

I got this sewing machine after not having one for over ten years. I guess that makes me a beginner all over again. This sewing machine just made me fall in love the second I turned it on. The display is crisp and intuitive, embroidery comes out beautifully and the sewing process is so much easier than I was used to from my previous machine. I can only recommend this one. Just make sure to buy high qulaity thread, as I experienced some skipped stitches because of the low quality one that I initially bought. As soon as I put the better thread in, skipped stitches were a thing of the past.

This is my second brother machine but first digital and embroidery machine . I always wanted one and was looking for an affordable option. First , the most important thing – READ the manual . I made a mistake at first by threading my new machine same way I would thread my older Brother machine … WRONG. My stitches were bunching up and something was wrong . Well, I didn’t thread it correctly. I then read the instructions and fixed the problem . So far I love this machine. I only tried embroidery option and it does a beautiful job . I’m a beginner and I figured out this machine rather quickly . If you have a hard time .. go on YouTube and watch few tutorials. They are very helpful .I haven’t had any of the problems that some other reviews stated . My only issue was my own mistake . I highly recommend this machine .

This machine is good for basic work. It does nice work and clean lays. I had no issues with it and made about 10-15 items. I sent back because it’s not the machine I’m looking for my business. I need more options on hoops and attachments.

I’m a beginner when it comes to sewing and embroidering, so it took some time for me to understand how to use the machine but after the initial learning curve, it was really easy to use. The embroidery patterns come out really nicely and it’s easy to buy more patterns online or you can make your own patterns(you’ll need to find a software to be able to do this). Highly recommended!

I bought it for my son, who loves it. His prior experience with Brother was bad, so he is hoping this will not turn out to be another disappointment. For now, he is enjoting learning the features of the machine.

My old sewing machine broke. I moved over to Brother and I am glad I did. This machine is so quiet though after a couple months it has gotten a bit noisier & takes several minutes to start. And also it only have one zigzag option. But overall there’s more pros than cons. I love several features of this machine. The touch screen display is handy, and it is really fun to try out the different sewing patterns available. The embroidery part is a plus. Supposedly my intention is to buy a plain basic machine to make a facemask. But the dual capabilities of sewing and embroider is a neat addition in my crafts room. This machine was the perfect time upgrade. It was at the right price point and has given me the opportunity to learn a new hobby & really be creative with embroidery. It is also user friendly & good quality.

The only bad thing is the limit of the 4 inch hoop. If you really want to do bigger things spend $200 more for the machine with the 5×7 hoop.

This was my first embroidery machine, and second Brother sewing machine. My first Brother was horrible and was actually returned, so I was hesitant to buy this one. The price was amazing though, and so far I don’t regret my purchase. The sewing machine is nice (I’m upgrading from a twenty year old Singer), with many upgrades like automatic threading, cutting, push button needle raising. I was able to follow the manual to easily convert it to the embroidery machine. My embroidery tests have come out great, and with the colored touch screen it is pretty easy to see what step is sewing. So far I definitely don’t regret this purchase.

don’t be fooled by the 4in x 4in hoop because you cant use the full 4×4 area only good for tiny patches and tiny 3 letter words also don’t be fooled by the embroidery/sewing feature you still have to change foot ,bobbin, spool tension and more its cheaper to just have a cheap sewing machine setup and ready to go don’t be fooled as this is not a good beginner machine because the 5×7 is a way better choice BUT after a while you are going to want to go bigger any way

This was definitely a win for me. I would suggest to use YouTube to help you set up and learn what you need to get you started as a beginner the manual might be overwhelming its literally a book but once you have the basics it’s good to refer to

I rolled the dice on purchasing a “Used – Very Good” version of this item due to the lower price point than all the new ones going for around $550. Item arrived in all the original packaging and everything was great until I plugged it in and turned it on. I was immediately greeted with the following message:”There is no needle plate cover. Attach a needle plate cover.””What’s the needle plate cover?” I thought. I reviewed the manual, discovered the part in question, and followed some online troubleshooting guides to try and remove and reseat it. That’s when I discovered the plastic hooks on the needle plate cover were broken.Amazon was quick to offer me a full refund on a return, but “couldn’t” offer me a working machine at the agreed upon price. I boxed it up, sent it back, and went directly to Brother’s own website to purchase the same machine for $379…wait, they just offered me a coupon code make that $360. With free shipping. It’s not 2-day, but hey, neither is Amazon Prime anymore.I will update this review with more details of a working machine once the new one arrives.

It work great as a beginners first machine. I’ve been able to use myown custom designs through the flashdrive USB port. If you are looking for a free program to design on I recommend inkstich. It’s a program extension for Inkscape and it can be a pain to set up but it’s nice when you are on a budget.

Hubby dearest bought me the Brother SE600 sewing/embroidery machine as a Christmas present. I’ve been wanting to try machine embroidery and the Brother machine seemed to be an affordable option.I regret asking for this machine as a Christmas present as the old adage “You get what you pay for” sure rings true. I should have saved up my money and bought a Janome machine. The Brother machine’s interface is a bit overwhelming. I thought it was me, as I am an older sewer, but my young computer savvy daughter looked at the interface and agreed. The interface is confusing and overwhelming. The Brother machine’s straight stitch does not match the Janome straight stitch for even, quality stitching. The straight stitch and how well it is formed is a good sign of a quality sewing machine. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being top-notch, the Brother straight stitch came out about a 7. Not bad but not really good either. The Brother’s embroidery feature seems to work and I can not give an informed opinion about how well that works as I am not experienced in machine embroidery. I can write setting up the embroidery unit does take some time but it’s not difficult. The Brother’s durability is somewhat suspect as there is plastic used to make some of the sewing machine parts. The machine seems to feel like it was cheaply made. Only time will tell when it comes to durability. I will be sending this machine back and will see about purchasing a Janome machine when the funds become available.I have enclosed a photo of the machine for all to see.Recommend with caveats given.

It’s completely fine so far. I’ve been using it a lot but the down side is that the needles are horrible. I used up all the needles and they’ve all broke in an hour or two of use. I’ve been seeing since I was 5 and I know how to use it. I would be more understanding if only one or two broke but all SEVEN?! I kept using the stupid needles till my new one comes in and oh my god that was a mistake on my part. The last needles basically exploded and almost got my eye. Thank god for glasses. Good machine, horrible needles. Save your eyes and make sure to buy some new needles with it.

Very pleased with sewing machine, well … regular sewing. Will write complete review after I’m able to try the embroidery functions. Unfortunately only one foot (“J”) was included with product. Need embroidery foot (“Q”) for embriodery functions – which is why I purchased this machine. Have submitted product problem with Amazon, but am very frustrated trying to submit missing part request with Brother-USA by phone or online. Do not want to use a generic foot, in case it causes problems.LOVE THE REGULAR SEWING MACHINE FUNCTIONS! Chose this sewing machine specifically for ‘cut thread’, ‘easy needle threading’ and other functions. I am so delighted with this machine that I gush to my sewing friends. It purrs quietly like a happy cat, yet is strong as a tiger tackling projects. I am very satisfied with this purchase, except for not being able to use the embroidery functions yet – due to lack of sewing feet advertised that would come with it, especially the embroidery foot. Am sure it will be a delight, as I’m a first time embroidery machine owner (after dreaming of purchasing one for 15 years). Will update in future after I’ve experienced the embroidery sewing functions.

I finally made up my mind to purchase an embroidery machine. I love the monthly payment option, which made this purchase very easy to be obtained. Although I own a sewing machine it was cheaper to buy the 2-in-1 brother machine. I have not set it up yet but I’m very excited about my machine and can’t wait to start using it. I love arts and crafts and being creative with my ideas. This embroidery machine will be perfect for my next project.

My sister bought a “new” SE400 at a thrift store and I was super impressed with her projects. Her modelwas not available when I was shopping for a combo machine, though I actually preferred this model (SE600) because of the built-in USB drive. I had this machine about a month and I have outgrown the 4×4 hoop;I’m very ok with the projects it can do. I have downloaded over 100 designs from different websites, ranging from free to $5. One design was $.10, yes 10 cents. The embroidery and regular sewing functions are wonderful. For the price, I am so glad I didn’t jump on the very expensive machine bandwagon. Personalized embroidered kitchen towels have made great gifts so far. Since quilting is one of my passions, my many sample pieces will be incorporated into a quilt…eventually. The learning curve was short because it’s so much fun. YouTube and Pinterest are great sources for inspiration. I kid you not, this is one VERY nice machine. Over the years I’ve accumulated enough thread, stabilizers, needles, and fabric to keep me busy for a while.Pros- threading, color screen, nice built-in fonts and designs for a beginner machine, built-in USB drive, easy to download purchased designs, nice stitch quality on the sewing machine function, easy to switch from embroidery to regular sewing, portable, nice lighting, most embroidery designs stitch out nicely (sometimes the design itself was not digitized well or you may not be using the correct stabilizer or thread-always test the design before applying to your project)Con-I immediately purchased a “Sew Steady Wish” table specifically for this machine to appliqué circles on Dresden plate quilt blocks and other projects with circles. The smallest circle I can make using the “sew steady” table and my SE600 is 6”, which is way bigger than I prefer. I admit I may be doing something wrong. This does not change how I feel about the machine and the table fits perfectly otherwise.

Needed a sewing machine in my vacation home. I have a singer I love, but thought adding the embroidery element would be fun (I primarily quilt). Just got this machine, but it has already been fun! Embroidered some flowers on some jean shorts to try out. Instruction manual is not helpful, but the screen walks you through what to do and it worked! Needle threader much better than the singer–I can never get it to work., but this is great and necessary if you are embroidering as you are constantly changing threads. This machine also seems quieter than the singer, good for sneaking away and sewing in the middle of the night! If you quilt, buy a 1/4 foot at the same time as the machine–doesn’t come with one. I did break a needle, but I didn’t use the right “spacer” on the upper thread and it caught on the spool edge.; otherwise handled thick denim fine. Great product for the price.

This is the first machine I have purchased in about fifteen years. It would have been helpful had it said in directions anywhere that it is a “touch” screen! Took me quite a while to figure that out!! Once I did, it was pretty easy to use. It was disappointing that the needle threader stopped working after a month or two of use, and, of course, it can only be fixed by a dealer… the rest of the machine is working well.

I have been using this machine for a few months not and… just wow… I have been using a few S&S programs to make my own designs, drop them on a USB flash drive, plug it in to the machine and hit go. Change color spools when the machine tells you to (there’s even a mechanical needle threader)I have also had to use it as a regular sewing machine on a few occasions. It’s WEIRD at first. the pedal is digital, so it takes a little of getting used to the speed curve on it. You can also set speed using the handy slider on the machine itself (when using the pedal the slider indicates the maximum speed) but you can still use the pedal for different speeds just like on a regular sewing machine. It handles heavy materials like a champ, sewed a patch (which I designed) on to a denim cap with absolutely no problem whatsoever. I tried to do it by hand and couldn’t even get the needle through all of the layers of fabric. This machine made short work of it. I can not recommend this machine enough!

As usual, the brother name has come thru. Beautiful and works extremely well. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced sewer you’ll love it.My daughter and son-in-law bought me my first embroidery machine 11 years ago. A SE350 sewing/embroidery machine. I was so thrilled my son-in-law said he was afraid one day he’d find his name embroidered in his underwear if I ran out of projects. I wish I knew the hours spent sewing in that machine. It was a great machine. I had it serviced twice (prob should have been more) Alas, last month I turned it on but it just made screeching noises and didn’t move. I’d been having trouble with the thread tension, but I knew as much as I had used it over the 11+ years it was due for retirement. Apparently embroidery machines have made a lot of advancements in those years so when I turned on my new SE600, I was amazed and thrilled. I’ve had it only 6 weeks and have finished a quilt, And started piecing together a double wedding ring quilt, made a pumpkin table runner, a sports coat and slacks for my grandson, Christmas dresses for 2 granddaughters, embroidered over a dozen towels, made and embroidered 15 burp pads and 10 baby bibs, made and embroidered 8 chair Pads for dining room, relined a vintage fur coat and made a linen table cloth and napkins for Christmas. This is a wonderful machine, and I hope to spend another 11 years of Sewing with Brother.

I’ve mainly used a basic sewing machine for repairing items and sewing masks. This combo style was intimidating from the videos online, but it’s really really easy. I can’t believe how much easier it is to thread the needle and how much faster it is for sewing. The touch screen is easy to understand.I bought the Amazon suggested thread type for embroidery and it’s not snapping. The hardest part so far is figuring out which graphics work for what size or what materials work best for embroidery.

Easy to learn & use for beginners. However it’s great for small items & thin materials. Not great for thicker items like sweaters. So great for small embroidery projects like baby clothes, baby blankets etc. I wanted to start embroidering sweaters and it kept jamming thread, literally causing a rip. Eventually I gave up & am going to try my luck on a bigger machine.

Oh my gosh, I was so intimidated when researching an embroidery machine! But this is the best experience I have had!! I never knew I would have so much fun. I am an avid YouTube watcher so I did my homework on stabilizer and wash away. Bought my thread and embroidered the first hour using one of the images that came with the machine. Also , I cheated and used the bobbin thread it came with. But finally I had to wind my own. The instructions are pictures on the machine itself. All I had to do was scroll through the step by step and amazingly got it right the first time. This is exactly what I needed and the price was perfect.

While I love the machine as a beginner I am able to create all sorts of projects but they make the claim of providing1,000’s of designs on their website for download which is untrue what they do have on there are a few handfuls of designs and the majority of them are pathetic. That was one of the major selling points that made me purchase the machine thinking I would have access to tons of designs but nope that upset me to the point of contemplating returning the machine. But I have found a work around which is to purchase nice designs off etsy because I have no other choice. While the designs that are install on the machine are okay they are very few nothing major. I just feel it is false advertising to say one thing and provide another. I also do graphics but my Lord the cost to purchase the software via Hatch is so expensive $1,000.00 and Brother’s software program is nothing to sneeze at either. One would think if you purchase one of their machines at least they would offer some sort of software program at a decent price when you take into consideration all the other supplies needed to create something. Come Brother you can do better than this! All the females in my family have been Brother fans for years, isn’t it about time you bend a little and give your faithful fans something like a decent designing software at a decent price!

I bought this with the idea of embroidering some baseball caps. It turns out to be much more difficult than I expected. the Brother made the process much easier. as a novice, I had to watch a few YouTube videos for some tips and then I was able to get the machine to some great things. I used some software I found online that allowed me to manipulate my art and make it work oneth Brother. After a few redesigns to make the Brother work better I got a very good product. The Brother is a great machine that ran for hours without any issues. I did buy a thread spool holder which helped quite a bit. I also bought the stabilizer which also helped. I strongly suggest this machine

Totally love this machine so far. Got the machine before Christmas since I knew my mom who’d be visiting for a month would enjoy having a machine to use for her work. Didn’t take long to figure out the bobbin and machine threading. Nice to have a needle threader! My mom who always thought that was silly, now loves that feature (as basic as some of you may think that is).I have only used the stitches but with so many of them to explore and try, it does not get old. I really have to study the impact of all the adjustments that can be made to each stitch’s offset, width and length.I haven’t had time to try the embroidery function or into looking at using the USB for embroidery patterns I wish to upload. Really I bought the machine for basic embroider of linens such as monogramming towels, napkins, dishtowels etc. Can’t wait to try and master. This will be the perfect way of customizing gifts for family and friends, not to mention my own linens. :)PS.1. Con- I think the main spool stopper (3 sizes come with the machine) is a bit weird. One continues to forget it is on the machine and it invariably falls on the floor behind the machine each time I change my thread spools.2. Con- When you thread the bobbin and cut the thread, it is far too short. When one fishes the bobbin thread up into the sewing area, it is difficult to pull up (due to its shortness); therefore, I stopped cutting the bobbin thread on the blade, leaving it longer. I find it easier to fish the bobbin thread now.

I can’t give this machine all five stars yet because I haven’t used it much. I decided to let a professional show me the basics of this machine at a local sewing shop instead of just reading the manual. I wanted to be able to ask questions on both sewing and embroidery before just fumbling through. My instructors gave some very good pointers and safeguards. Within an hour I learned the basics of sewing with this machine and love all of the extras this machine has. It does have a good light to see, threading and winding bobbins are easy with the directions on the machine to remind you. Love the easiness of changing the presser feet. Needless to say my last sewing machine from forty years ago did not have a computer, an automatic needle threader or the built in thread cutter. I found I prefer to sew without the foot pedal and like just pushing a button to sew. It has plenty of stitches to use and I checked out five different ones in class. Next week I’m taking the embroidery training class because I want to be able to retain my training and master one thing before moving on. I glanced at the free designs and there are quite a few I liked but I can tell I’m going to have to 8mport my own selections to customize my projects so I’ll need to buy a usb drive to be able to do that and to get a new laptop since iPads won’t work on downloads. I also have been looking for a trolley to fit all the products and the machine which hasn’t been easy finding one I like that isn’t $200 . I think hemline products has one that I like so I’ll be ready to transport my machine to class. So far I am very pleased and my instructor who also sells brother and Pfaff machines said it was a great machine to start out on. Great features that you’d find on more expensive machines.

A quick glance at the negative reviews easily proves that much of the issues should be attributed to the user’s failure to operate the machine effectively; i.e. thread/needle breakage, skipped or inaccurate stitching, and so on. This clearly demonstrates that the consumer has not even taken the time to review the User’s Manual prior to communicating with Brother’s Customer Service, which would also explain their discontent with the support they received. Most of these issues are easily resolved with appropriate planning. After all, creating a permanent, personalized design is the intention one has when investing in any one of these machines. The appropriate stabilizer should be used depending on the type/weight of the fabric along with the complexity of the design. Thread keepers are a standard accessory available with all Brother machines. These are meant to prevent thread bunching/breakage. Simply adjusting the tension will not resolve anything. Design digitization is an entire universe all on it’s own. It’s apparent most users are converting vector files from SVG to PES; this is a grave mistake. I dare say even Brother’s own software (available with additional cost) would render less than satisfactory results unless you’re using professionally-made design files or creating simple monograms. Personally, I believe there’s no comparison to Floriani’s software though it’s very costly for the average user.I love that the SE600 has a full-color touchscreen and also functions as a regular sewing machine. I own several Brother machines and this one easily replaces all of them. There are additional attachments you can purchase that produce similar results to a serger and a cover-stitch machine. It’s extremely convenient not having to switch machines while working on a single project. Overall I’m very happy though likely upgrading to the SE1900 since it features a slightly larger embroidery area.

I had brother sewing machine for 4 years. Comparing to that this model is improved a lot. It has an automatic threading which I like. It sews automatically, no need for a foot work. Initially, it was not recognizing my usb drive. I called a customer care, after waiting for 5 min they told me that I need only particular brands of usb drive. Later my husband did something to my usb drive (he is a software engineer) and machine recognized it.I had another problem of needle breakage while embroidering. It was because I digitized files myself and didn’t know how to digitize is well. That is why machine had to jump from one end into another and go through one place several times as a result embroidery turned out to be very hard for the needle to go through. That was I broke 2 needles. Later I bought several designs from etsy sellers and they never broke the needle.I wish this machine had little bigger hoop, and more of decorative stitches. Or there could be an option of inserting decorating stitches. Because it has around 20 decorative stitches which is very less for me.Yes, while embroidering you need to sit around because sometimes the silky thread gets stuck somewhere on the top and machine doesn’t recognize it and continues working. That way sometimes breaks the needle. But if you are around, keep an eye on it there shouldn’t be any problem. And I wish people create more of small sized embroidery designs.Regarding ibroidery.com: I could find very few designs and all those you can use only for your own personal use. You cannot show it in public forums, or sell the products you embroider. These are all my experience using it for last one month.

I bought this machine a year and a half ago, wanting to get back into sewing but not wanting to sink a lot of money into a machine until I saw how much I’d be using it. I ended up using it A LOT.Some of the things I love include – easy to learn; touchscreen makes it very easy to select and work with stitches and the picture will adjust if you change stitch width or length so you really know what it decorative stitches will look like; many decorative stitches to choose from; alerts when your bobbin is almost out of thread or if you didn’t notice the top thread pulled back through the needle; built in embroidery designs are very easy to work with. Some of the things I didn’t love include – small piece of thread comes off inside machine every time I used the thread cutter so I had to regularly open up the machine to clean out the threads; I had inconsistent results using the USB input – sometimes the machine would read the drive, other times it wouldn’t (changing the thumb drive didn’t help).Overall this was a very good entry level machine and it held up to a significant amount of use (I’ve made over 1400 masks in the past 6 months, in addition to other projects, so this machine has seen hundreds of hours of use). The amount of time I spent dusting and vacuuming the inside of the machine contributed to the 4 star rating.

After my $80 sewing machine died from mass producing masks for everyone & their mamas (surprised it survived that & 7 years of my crappy sewing habits that exceeded its capabilities & limitations), i decided that it was time to invest in something I could be proud of. My heart was set on the Singer One sewing machine. It was a perfect blend of beautiful & futuristic but deep down I felt there was more to be desired. After reading an overwhelming amount of scary & negative reviews, I felt the Singer One definitely wasn’t the machine for me. So I researched Brother and to my surprise I found this beautiful machine, the SE600! I was only looking for a basic sewing machine, maybe with a little extra & found the SE600 had an option to embroider YAY!! To tell the truth, I kinda procrastinated a bit to try it out when it was delivered bc I was secretly intimidated by the fact that I hate dealing with computerized errors. Well, the instructions were very clear & easy to understand. It explains what to do if you run into a problem & that definitely put my mind at ease. When I got the machine to stitch?? OMG…… it sews like a frigg’n dream guys!!!!! Its so smooth & quiet I think I could rent it out to put babies to sleep. AND it does all the little tedious things for you that I had come to terms with during my pre-SE600 life. Yes, that’s right: it threads the needle for you, you could probably leave the room and leave the bobbin winding, It raises the needle for you w/o turning the hand wheel, it sews w/o a foot control (I think they threw one in there just to help people sleep at night bc otherwise who’s heard of a machine w/o a foot control?) AND it even cuts the frigg’n thread!!!!!!! WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t realized how much time I was waisting by dealing with all of these annoying little things!! Also, I used to think all stitches were created equally, but I was wrong bc those perfect neat stitches??????? That’s WHATS UP, lemme just tell you. The fabric grip is steady & it stabilizes very well. I haven’t explored the embroidery aspect of it, but I’m pretty excited to get around to it. My only complaint was that the SE600 was so hard to find in-store or online to purchase. Im so fortunate I found the last one on Amazon. Also, just remember that you have to take the time to read through the manual to understand the do’s & don’ts. Once you’ve familiarized yourself with it, the experience will only improve from there. I hope you get it bc its an amazing sewing machine!!!!!

This is my first sewing machine and just by following the instructions in the manual I was able to use it.As a first timer: I wish they would give a starting pack bundle option to go with it so that you don’t have to spend more time in researching what you need to start your first project than learning what this machine has to offer. The box comes with needles samples, several foots and a bunch of other stuff, but you will need fabric samples, stabilizers samples and embroidery + sewing threads. Not impressed with CUSTOM EMBROIDERY IMPORTS: The technology in the SE600 that allows you to import your own .pes embroidery design files, because if you go to the brother website that offers the designs your MAC will not work. That website offers files for windows not mac.The embroidery patterns offered with this machine are minimal for my specific needs; good variety of fonts, but I would of preferred more designs instead than a disproportional amount of Japanese characters.Overall this machine is a good starting point.

My first “computerized” sewing machine. Not sure I will use the embroidery features but I love the variety of stitches. It is easy to use the needle threader and that fact that it cuts the thread when you finish stitching is worth buying a new sewing machine. If you are a beginner I would not recommend a computerized machine as the learning curve is a little steep. If you are an experienced sewer but not savvy with an iphone or other devices that use a screen interface this machine could be confusing. I can’t give it 5 stars because the foot controller is not smooth and can be “jerky” So stopping the stitching exactly where you would like can be a challenge.

I have only been sewing for about 6 months, and have never embroidered. That said, this machine is incredibly easy to learn! I have had so much fun learning and embroidering. I have mostly used flannel so far, and that has worked beautifully! Definitely invest in some stabilizer sheets for thinner ones, but it has been great. While I wasn’t super impressed with the pre loaded designs, I have found TONS of cheap ones on crafting sites that I have easily downloaded to my machine. I’m loving it so much!

Great for both embroidery and sewing, if you are starting to learn machine embroidery this is such a good fit, make sure to have the right materials on hand like stabilizer and good quality thread. Machine has a 4×4″ embroidery hoop therefor that is the largest design you can make but you can also purchase larger or smaller hoops in order to adjust design sizing.

I love this machine!! It is wonderful. It took a bit to get the stitch adjustment right but once I did, it was good. This machine replace a Brother Pacesetter that I bough overseas in 1979. (40 years ago) I researched and although I have never used an embroidery machine before, I bought this one to sew with. The embroidery was just an added feature that I did not figure I would use. Boy was I WRONG!!!! I am embroidering on everything!!! It is so very much fun!!! The machine only embroiders a 4″ x 4″ hoop size design. I now wish that I would have looked at something that would do a 5″ x 7″ or larger sized hoop machine that still has the sewing features! It is a wonderful machine and I am going to get a lot of use out of it. Hopefully it will last as long as my first Brother machine!!!

I absolutely love ! My machine I’ve had it for about a month or 2 now and it’s great my only complaint is that just lately my foot pedal seem to not be working right, I have to wiggle to cord or I’d have to use the automatic sewing button to sew, I’ll figure it out though. Other than that great machine. ALSO I’ve used it with singer attachments such as the walking foot and other feet it works perfectly fine with them.**UPDATE!!!!*** PLEASE READ! I am still sticking with what I said above, but after using this machine for about 3-4 months the foot peddle is now giving me problems I have to move the cord around for it to work ,or I have to plug it out then turn the machine so,I took it to my nearest sew and vac and the repair guy told me it has to be something with the mother board or where it’s being plugged, in because remember it is a computerized machine. I asked can’t I just get a replacement machine and he responded with they wouldn’t even give a replacement machine and that these problem with this specific machine is common. I was going to buy a baby lock machine y’all, but it was sold out every where so this machine was the closest to the baby lock and it’s now frustrating, I am kinda regretting that I bought this now that it’s giving me the problems that I am dealing with right now.

This was a Christmas present to my mom who enjoys crafting. She has a heat press and does vinyl decals so I thought this would be the next step. After doing extensive research, I felt this would be the best product… and we were not disappointed!! This machine has lived up to everything we could have asked for! The only downside is the lack of YouTube videos so some of it was a little trial-and-error…… It took my mom (67 with about 75% use of her right arm) only minutes to be able to maneuver the thread and thread the needle. She says the auto-threader is the best feature. The on-screen display is very user friendly, and although it is only one color at a time, my mom says that it is very easy to switch… and the machine tells you what color to put on next and when to put it on! She has imported images from Etsy with ease and is moving to iEmbroidery as well as her own designs. This is an awesome product at a super great price!
